KLEO has released a string of singles since 2018 and released her debut EP MACHINA in 2020 from which two songs have earned BBC Introducing track of the week. Her music splits the difference between hyperpop and darkpop, drawing influence from industrial, K-pop, house and trap, she has crafted her very own brand of post-internet pop. Kleo is an internet artist with a physical base in Glasgow Scotland. Oh and there’s the small matter of Radio 1’s Big Weekend, backing from Chvrches on Radio 1 and a shoutout by Sam Fender on BBC Scotland with Edith Bowman during this years TRNSMT. There you will find Glasgow’s 4 piece Dead Pony formed of Anna Shields, Blair Crichton, Euan Lyons and Liam Adams. It’s hard to compare a band who don’t really sound like anyone else, but think Queens of the Stoneage, Nirvana, Bikini Kill, The Prodigy and Wolf Alice hurtling around in a blender and becoming something totally new. These will be released online over the next couple of months on social media with a goal of attracting further prestigious performance offers as well as any collaborations with organisations in the Scottish music scene. We plan to achieve this through a campaign which will focus on studio recorded live session videos at Enough Records’ Magic Box Studio. Next we are aiming for 2023 festival line-up inclusions. We were also invited to perform live in-studio for BBC Radio Scotland as part of their Friday night Introducing… show and have a strong relationship with DF Concerts and 432 Presents who have included us in prestigious line-ups with the likes of Liz Lawrence, Zuzu, Quiet Houses, Wayne Snow and STRABE. Their hard-work and talent paid off at my first headliner gig in Edinburgh’s Sneaky Pete’s which reached full capacity and received an extremely passionate response from attendees and staff. My brilliant band and former university peers (Edinburgh Napier Popular Music) have been on-board for three years now. They will also be supporting my next few singles. This is a 6-month-long contract that focuses on developing my status/engagement in the Scottish music industry through a variety of strategies. Perhaps the most monumental moment of my career as an independent up-and-coming artist was being nominated for BBC Introducing’s Scottish Act of the Year with my latest Track I’m Good, which also featured in Wide Days’ New from Scotland Playlist.Ī recent achievement was signing a record deal with indie label Enough Records, ran by Charlotte Brimner and Louie John Lowis. Shortly after that my track Free-Swimming music was featured on Spotify’s Fresh Finds and Fresh Finds: Indie and received recognition from the likes of Future Classic and SAMA. My career starting to gain momentum after I was invited to perform at Resonate Scotland’s Music Conference in 2020 alongside Bemz, Russel Stewart and Echo Machine. My sound can be identified by its blend of DIY/homemade samples, pop-production and personal lyrics. Taking influence from 90/00’s hip-hop/R’n'B and contemporary alt-rock/pop, Berta Kennedy is the alias under which I song-write, produce and perform.
