![]() On my first serious exploration trip in Pirate territory, I didn't ID before getting into gun range, and ended up picking a fight with a Teladi M6(Osprey?) in an Aldrin M3 Spitfyre. Just make sure you identify any ship before you attack it. Afterall, you're right near to a Pirate sector. If you want to fight, find something a bit bigger(an M3 ship ideally, like a Spitfyre, Tenjin or Venti) or failing that a Buster, strap some cheap guns on, and you can make a decent bit of cash as a bounty hunter. A Discoverer will never be more than rubbish in combat. You might get lucky and get a really easy ship retrieval mission that pays well. These tell you that someone on that station has a Mission for you-these are a bit tricky but they're a good way to make up some money early on. ![]() In the short term though, as you're exploring look for icons(such as a lightbulb or a crosshair) floating over stations. It feels like a good place to go now my EVE days are over(you can only kill so many hulks.) My tip would be read every guide you can find-knowledge is power and that goes double for a complex game like this. I agree-I'm pretty new myself, I came over from EVE Online and I'm loving this. Part of the charm in this game is starting from nothing and becoming a huge economic/tycoon/military etc. This may seem annoying that may take a while, but you'll feel that much more accomplished having done it that just cheated and taken a bunch of money or free ships or something. Meanwhile, you shoould continue to do scan missions and purchasing cheap used ships (repairing them and selling them at shipyards if you don't want to keep them). Once you get enough money, purchase a cheap freighter and start remote/manual trading with it, eventually you'll be able to upgrade it fully and purchase trade software mk3 for it so youc an make it an automated trader (make sure it has full shields and a jumpdrive) and send it off. Do asteroid scan missions for stations and cargo scan missions for pirates to make huge money (all while avoiding getting into fights because you aren't in good enough ships to fight back). When you have enough money upgrade your engines, turning and cargo space on yoru ship. buy energy cells cheap and sell it for more. ![]()
